Pianist/Band Director 

 Band Director and Pianist

Time: An average of 4 hours per week in-person

Purpose:To develop, lead, and diversify the instrumental component of the music ministry who serve as a backbone to the worship experience

Responsibilities:

  • Act as main pianist/organist
  • Accompany Vocal Ensembles in rehearsals and on Sundays
  • Lead band rehearsals in partnership with the Music Director
  • Diversify instrumental offerings beyond the regular 3-piece set, particularly for special services and music programs
  • Arrange and rehearse music prior to collective rehearsals
  • Communicate faithfully with the Music Director, Senior Pastor and Staff

Regular Time Commitment:

Sundays from 9am-11am (2 hours) – includes mandatory soundcheck, warmup, and worship

Thursdays from 6-8pm (2 hours) – includes rehearsals

Additional Notes from the Senior Pastor:

We are looking for a director who plays the piano (and preferably the organ), has experience playing a wide variety of music from gospel to classical to musical theatre and beyond, and has experience leading a 3+ piece band (keys, drums, bass). Some of our special services include: Pride Sunday Musical Theatre Worship Experience, Juneteenth Service (with African Drumming), The Annual Christmas Concert (with pop, classical, and gospel music), and the Easter Program (with traditional selections and gospel selections).

 The Band Director will work directly under the Music Director who is responsible for song selections, choir direction, and soloist direction.

 The Band Director will get first call for any funerals or weddings, and that pay will be in addition to their weekly salary. If unable to meet the need, the Band Director will help the Music Director find coverage.

Committed to the church's vision, leadership, and people
Dependable, responsible, self-motivated and creative
Minimum five years’ experience in church-related setting.

Musical Competencies: 

Ability in wide range of styles including Christian classics (hymns), Gospel music, Contemporary Christian, appropriate secular music and beyond.

Ability to lead worship and to train others as individual and team worship leaders.
Professional quality keyboard (preferred) or other instrument

Current Salary: Starting at $475/week | ~ $24,700/yr + additional compensation for funerals, weddings, and extra programs or rehearsals
