Reading Strange Letters: Bible Study
Any one of us discovering an old letter in the attic of our grandparent’s home would be more than a little excited to open it and read the concerns of another time and place. Yet, when it comes to bible study many of us have just given up. There are lots of reasons for that. Sometimes the bible has been used like a two by four to club us. Sometimes it was put on display on the coffee table to prove a nonexistent piety. Well, there are lots of reasons. But it’s time to put some of those reasons and excuses to the side and approach the study of scripture in a fresh way. You have that very opportunity every Sunday at 9 am in the Foster Room with a pastor who has earned a B.A. in Religion, a Master of Divinity and a Ph.D. and who also teaches and has been teaching regularly at Howard University School of Divinity for over a dozen years. Here is your chance to pick up the bible and ask the hard questions and perhaps in the process, find a liberating encounter with truth, joy and love. After a months long study of The Acts of the Apostles, Dr. Bledsoe will begin leading us in a discussion of Paul’s Letter to the Galatians. Won’t you join us? Our studies are amiable, vigorous and always insightful.
