About Our Mission
Riverside Baptist Church DC is a Christ-centered, interracial, inclusive, and ecumenical community of faith. We are dedicated to the redemption of our world through acts of mercy, love, and justice. In the furtherance of that goal, Riverside will make its facilities available for use by church, service, and community groups both within and outside of our congregation. We regard this as part of the church’s service and outreach to our neighbors and our Southwest community.
Your Wedding
We at Riverside Baptist Church DC want you to know how pleased we are that you are considering our church for your marriage ceremony. Your wedding is a sacred occasion. It will be most meaningful to you, your families and friends when it is carefully planned. For that reason, the following policies will govern plans for your wedding at Riverside Baptist Church. Our church staff will work with you to ensure that your wedding is a happy and memorable event.
A wedding ceremony conducted in the church is not just a social occasion performed within the walls of a religious building. It is a service of worship. Prayers are offered and solemn vows are made. Because we see weddings as important religious services, it is expected that those present, and most particularly all of the wedding party, will be in the spirit of sincere worship.
In keeping with our long legacy of social justice and inclusivity, Riverside Baptist Church in Washington DC proclaims the equal rights of all people, including the legal right for individuals to marry the person of their choice. In accordance with our Open and Affirming stance and the laws of the District of Columbia, we welcome weddings for all couples, regardless of sexual orientation, gender expression or gender identification.
