We are kicking off 2024 with a 4-week book journey rooted in a story from the Acts of the Apostles!
Written by Reverend Michael A. Walrond, Jr -- Senior Pastor of First Corinthian Baptist Church in New York, NY (FCBCNYC) and FCBCLA -- Searching for Agabus sits with an overlooked background figure in the grand narrative of the apostle Paul, Agabus (Acts 21:10-14), who bursts from the epistles with an audacious prophecy. "In a world where everyone wants to be the main character, Agabus remains a minor one with powerful relevance for today. Gleaning from Agabus's story, we can bravely be our authentic selves, honoring what God has assigned us to do, no matter how small or insignificant it seems." [Broadleaf Books]
In the book, Walrond dares us to be our authentic selves and to fulfill our callings in joyful anonymity, following in the footsteps of Agabus, who followed in the footsteps of Jesus. Who can we be and how can we transform our world if we dare to embrace a life of anonymity, authenticity, and service?
We look forward to welcoming Reverend Michael A. Walrond, Jr. back to Riverside DC on Sunday, February 4, 2024 for a sermon and talk back!
We invite you to purchase the book here: Searching for Agabus: Embracing Authenticity and Finding Your Way to You a book by Michael Walrond (bookshop.org)
You do not need the book to participate. In our conversations, we will pull from the Gospels and the Acts of the Apostles, as well as from other resources, most notably:
