We are proud to partner with Foster the Family DC in hosting a night of respite.
Foster the Family DC brings practical support to the doorstep of a foster family at its most vulnerable time.
Respite nights provide three hours of free childcare for foster, adoptive, and kinship families. The
night starts at 4:00 pm, with volunteers arriving at 3:30, and ends at 7:00 pm. This event is a
night of fun activities, games, and a movie that helps relieve the burden of childcare on parents
and allows for kids to be in a space that is sensitive to their situation and surrounds them with a
community that both sees and supports them. During this time, snacks and food are also
provided to the kids and volunteers.
If you are interested in volunteering, we have 3 categories:
Donating Food/Snacks | Doesn't require background check or registering through the Foster the Families DC volunteer portal [Signup]
Setup (3-4pm) | Doesn't require background check or registering through the Foster the Families DC volunteer portal [Signup]
Respite Volunteer (4-7pm) | Requires registering through the Foster the Families DC volunteer portal and consenting to a background check
Cleanup (7-8pm) | Doesn't require background check or registering through the Foster the Families DC volunteer portal [Signup]
