With the recent increase in surveillance and the overwhelming presence of combative law enforcement in our neighborhoods (operating under the guise of "crime prevention"), we are exploring new ways to support our community. I am particularly concerned about our youth in Southwest, especially during afterschool hours. I am also concerned for our housing insecure community members who are being displaced, disrespected, and dehumanized.

We are adopting Jefferson Middle School.

Snacks and Safety Zone
We are piloting a new program in September and October. On Wednesdays from 3-6pm, we will open the church as a safe zone. We do not know who will come--if anyone, at first--but the space will be open for Jefferson students, specifically, to take shelter off of the streets.
