Nothing is Wasted!

"GATHER THE PIECES THAT ARE LEFT OVER. LET NOTHING BE WASTED."

Friends, we want to take this opportunity to say "Thank you!" --
for all you do, for who you are, and for helping us host the Back-to-School Jam on August 6th. It was a phenomenal day in Southwest DC.

Deacon Terryn had the kids dancing to the music. Deacon Jonathan opened up the church on Saturday for setup and closed it down on Sunday. Trustee Edward helped with security. Deacon Cheryl offered hospitality throughout. Celia made sure the kids took a book home. Tracy and Chi Chi from St. Augustine's served food and handed out supplies. Mary and friends from St. Dominic provided a ministry of presence. So many of you donated, hung out the day of, helped welcome people into our space, and beyond!
    Thank you.

We want to thank our lead organizer, Models Inc., and offer a special thanks to our member, Louise.

I also would like to thank our partners and sponsors:
St. Dominic Catholic Church, with special recognition to Father Schommer and Mary Moran
St. Augustine's Episcopal Church, with special recognition to Rev. Lipscomb and Tracy Braxton
Amerigroup DC, with special recognition to Lorenzo Kenan
DC Prevention Center for Wards 5 & 6

The Back-to-School giveaway was truly a John 6:1-15 moment because we started with 5 loaves and 2 fish and the stuff just kept multiplying! But what really made it a moment was that there were LEFTOVERS!

Jesus told the disciples in John 6:12: “Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted.”

We give thanks to the God of LEFTOVERS -- to the God who does exceedingly and abundantly above and beyond what we ask or think. We donated them to the James Creek Housing Community. Nothing is wasted.

God's abundance shows up when WE show up!
Join us on Sundays for worship at 10AM.
Rev. Mia M. McClain, Senior Pastor
