Transforming the conditions of our living together
Outreach & Justice at Riverside DC
We believe that following the teachings of Jesus calls us to do the layered justice work of loving-kindness, charitable giving, and advocacy-based projects. We are not merely called to give of ourselves and our resources; we are called to ask the hard questions about why inequity persists. Our programs, partners, grant recipients, and witnessing efforts align with our mission to embody and empower revolutionary disciples that transform the conditions of our living together.

We are proud to partner with Foster the Family DC in hosting fun days! Foster the Family DC brings practical support to the doorstep of a foster family at its most vulnerable time. Fun Days provide three hours of free childcare for foster, adoptive, and kinship families. This event helps relieve the burden of childcare on parents and allows for kids to be in a space that is sensitive to their situation and surrounds them with a community that both sees and supports them. Southwest Back-to-School Community Fest
This backpack, school supplies, and grocery giveaway in in its 3rd year! In 2024, we served over 170 students and their families with the help of 4 churches, 2 supporting community organizations, 25+ volunteers, $6500+ in donations, and hundreds of material donations. Every backpack was given away with plenty of school supplies in them and a dozen new voters were registered. This year's event will take place on August 10, 2025. Sign Up to Volunteer
Community Partners
For years, we've been honored to host meetings and rehearsals for the DC Chapter of House of Garcon, an international organization that was founded based on the principles of fraternity, education advocacy, and professional growth. The organization exercises these principles through the participation in ballroom competitions. The House of Garcon is our longest in-house partner in the work of transformation.
James Creek Residential Council
In 2024, we deepened our relationship with the James Creek Residential Council. James Creek is one of three public housing communities in SW DC. With the guidance of Christine Spencer, the residential council leader, we were able to donate $2000 worth of diapers, baby formula, and other infant and toddler necessities to their community pantry.
Current and Past Grant Recipients
Every year, the Endowment Committee awards $10,000 grants to organizations who are doing the work of transforming lives in our community.
